Since 1997, Attorney Marcia Perez has a proven track record of developing effective solutions to complex immigration situations with integrity. “We succeed where others have failed.

The Law Office of Marcia I. Perez practices exclusively in immigration law, focusing on businesses, families and victims of crimes/domestic violence, as well as asylum, naturalization and immigration court matters. At the Law Office of Marcia I. Perez, we pride ourselves on finding successful solutions to the most complex immigration issues.  We never accept a case we do not believe has a chance of success. We work with clients over the course of their entire immigration journey starting with the individual and their family,  through naturalization and then bringing additional members of their families. We have worked with many families for decades and over several generations.  We assist startups as well as long established businesses in meeting their employee visa needs. We pay special attention to the family members of immigrant visa workers as larger firms tend to overlook the family members or view them as afterthoughts. We focus on the whole family and understand their individual needs as well, such as options for an aging out child or derivative spouse that would like to return to the work force. We believe in a hands-on experience and giving each matter the individual attention it deserves.   By speaking with clients directly, Attorney Perez offers a personal touch that creates a safe and trusting atmosphere for her clients to receive the help and support they need.

Family Immigration, Naturalization, and Political Asylum

Keeping families together is my main objective. This is why we devote our time towards helping family members seek immigration solutions together.  Whether it be political asylum, adjustment of status (“green card”), consular processing, citizenship, waivers for criminal or fraudulent behavior, representation in court proceedings, or waivers for unlawful presence, my goal is to keep families together and unite them with their loved ones here in the United States. No matter how complex the legal issue, we are ready to take on the challenge of making sure families STAY TOGETHER.

Business Immigration

I represent a wide array of businesses and their employees in all industries with business visa matters, including H-1B, L-1A/B, E-2, E-3 and PERM certification (previously known as labor certification). For your extraordinary talent and outstanding researchers we assist in preparing and filing O-1 visa petitions, EB1/EB2 visas, and National Interest Waivers (NIW). I offer hands-on representation for businesses in their employment-based immigration needs and find solutions that work. For many businesses and entrepreneurs, it's very difficult to find highly skilled, experienced workers in the U.S. Our office has decades of expertise in analyzing the complexities of these occupations and how to find the right visa to meet the employer’s needs.

Victims of Domestic Violence And Crime

An immigrant who becomes a victim of domestic abuse or a violent street crime should never have to live in fear of their attacker/abuser. They should not be forced back to the violence of their own country if they report a crime. There are immigration laws to protect undocumented immigrants that report crimes to law enforcement. I help individuals who have been abused so that they can rightfully keep their immigration status through a VAWA (Violence Against Women Act) or with a U visa if a victim of a crime. I have successfully gone through VAW/U-Visa cases for not just women, but also men who have had the misfortune of being in an abusive marriage (this also includes same-sex marriages). We will evaluate the merits of your VAWA/U-Visa case and help you gauge whether filing a self-petition under the Violence Against Women Act or a U-Visa petition is an appropriate form of relief and help with finding hidden problems and red flags that only an experienced immigration lawyer with VAWA/U-Visa  experience can identify.

Removal and Deportation Cases

If you are facing deportation (removal), you need an experienced attorney to defend your rights. Being in Removal Proceedings is an indescribably terrifying and stressful time in a person’s life, but we can help explain the process, find effective solutions to address your removal case and stay by your side developing legal strategies to keep you and your family in the United States. Not many attorneys understand the time sensitivity or the complexity of these situations nor do they offer a comprehensive plan of action.  We do . We are here to find answers to many of your immigration law problems.

Non-Immigrant Visas

We assist F-1 students and B-1/2 visitors with being able to change their non-immigrant status or extend their stays in the United States. Whether it is help with F-1 Optional Practical Training (OPT) work authorizations, STEM EAD renewals or curing failures to maintain status our office can guide you through the process. We also can consult F-1 students who are prospective H-1B applicants with explaining the complex lottery and H-1B process. If you are unsure which category you fall under, feel free to give us a call and I can assist with an analysis.

Citizenship and Naturalization

Solidifying your immigration status and that of your family is very important. Citizenship helps ensure you can live in the U.S. for the rest of your life, if you choose to do so; or return after many years abroad if live outside the U.S. for extended periods of time. Becoming a U.S. citizen is a meaningful way to participate in this country culturally and politically, but it is also about belonging and a place where a person or family can thrive. It provides important protection against removal from our country. Most importantly, it allows you to bring your closest family members such as parents and siblings as well as your spouse and children sooner, ensuring your family can stay together throughout your lifetime and making the United States your family’s permanent home for generations to come.
